Introducing Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, Vancouver's most well known horn player and smooth jazz recording artist. He has spent more time on the Billboard music contemporary jazz charts than any other Canadian, and is winner of a few JUNO Awards, some gold album awards, as well as Album of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year awards!
What does that mean to you?
Gabriel is truly smooth in his style, and is at home on the concert stage as well as intimate venues. He plays muted trumpet, flugelhorn, and flute, and his music can be as foreground as needed for concerts and feature shows, or totally background for lounges, weddings, restaurants, and corporate receptions, where his sweet sounds can envelope diners, drinkers, or chatterers. All this without being obtrusive or breaking the budget. Always the epitome of class: the perfect warm stage manner, perfect attire, perfect volume. and the perfect music mix, guaranteed!
Although best presented in a full group format, Gabriel has mastered the art of intimate performances that can be romantic, fun, casual, and inviting. Drawing upon his dozen or so critically acclaimed and award winning smooth instrumental albums, Gabriel knows just how to pick a great song flow. His long tenures as house bandleader at Monk McQueens, The Roof, The Dockside, the Hard Rock Casino, and Ten Ten Tapas have honed his already innate skill of creating a well paced and appropriate set list for ANY audience.
In intimate settings, he also utilizes favourite classic jazz standards, and often performs as 'Solo Flight' with his album tracks for backing, or sometimes as a duo nicknamed 'LoungeLuxe', which is basically his solo format with added guitar. Of course group sizes such as trio, quartet, quintet - all the way up to his big band orchestra- are available and are well rehearsed to create a truly polished performance. Gabriel is sought after by elite clients because of his past accomplishments, and has worked extensively with Michael Buble', played for Bill Gates in his home, performed for the President of Singapore's Birthday Bash, was featured at the Beijing Olympics, and even played Trevor Linden's wedding!
